Huge collection of Russian art dominates the museum. There are also collections of American and European art. Downstairs are a few rooms containing changing exhibits of contemporary art. Overall, a very interesting museum.
Has a small cafe on the ground floor.
The collection that was here at the time I came was quite varied and had some really cool, unique pieces. The collections are split into 4 or 5 areas and over 2 floors. The staff is friendly and the entire place is clean and quiet.
This is such a hidden gem that really needs to get the recognition it deserves. The Zimmerli Art Museum is a beautifully kept art museum that's deceptively large and best of all, is completely free.
We had a great time; learned a lot. It's a lot bigger than it looks like on the outside.
Bottom line, this is one of the nicest art museums you'll find in this area. It's as good as any paid suburban art museum, and again, it's completely free. A must go.
A hidden gem on College Ave campus whose permanent collection includes American art, children's book illustrations, Japanese woodcuts, and works by Mason Gross alumni.
Z.A.M. has interesting collections and it's the 'only' Art Museum of which I'm aware with a Childrens' Book Art collection - on permanent, rotating display. I LOVE it.
It's FREE now and easy to find on campus.

From what I can tell, the docents are mostly volunteers from the local community, while the gallery guards are all work-study undergrads.
